ASTCT Engages CMS on Coverage Issues Impacting Stem Cell Transplants
ASTCT Government Relations committee members met with the CMS coverage team on February 6 to request technical corrections to guidance documents that may be causing inadvertent denials for some MDS or cord blood stem cell transplant cases. CMS confirmed the issues were made in error and is planning to release correction and claims reprocessing information in an upcoming communications cycle, estimated to be sometime between April and July. ASTCT will continue monitoring for this information and circulate it once available.
ASTCT continues to closely monitor legislative developments and advocate for policies that prioritize patient access and NIH funding for research.
